Fire shutters and curtains offer 1 and 2 hour protection dependent on your needs. They can operate as part of the fire alarm system where we can supply an interface to connect the two systems, when the alarm sounds the shutters self closes.
If the shutter needs to be stand alone then it can be controlled via a fusible link.
On activation, the link which is a soldered link separates and releases at 68 degrees centigrade, on the manual shutter this will release the drop bar and the shutter will close under its own weight, on the electric shutters the manual brake release is activated and the shutter will close under a controlled manner.
Shutters can be used where physical security is also required as the shutter can be opened and closed as required.
Fire curtains stay in the open position all the time, poised to close as soon as the alarm is triggered. Fire curtains are made from a Kevlar and stainless steel thread; they are smaller and more discreet than shutters.
